Nobuaki Maeda
前田信明
1949 Born in Kumamoto city. After working as a middle school and high school art teacher, served as professor at Kyushu Sangyo University, Zokei Junior College of Art and Design.
By the earth on which we stand, the verticality of gravity, the sense that the world continues, the horizon, consistently pursues pure abstraction through the expansiveness of space.
Lives and works in Kumamoto city, Japan.
1970 Participated as Shintaro Tanaka's assistant at the 10th Tokyo Biennale ”Between man and matter” ,Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, and met Katsuhiko Narita and other Mono-ha avant-garde artist.
Started Xerox Art and did public productions.
1975 First solo exhibition of shaped canvas abstract paintings at Sato Gallery (Tokyo)
1982 Residence production in New York and Boston
To date, has participated in many solo and group exhibitions, mainly in Asia, including GALLERY SHILLA (Daegu, Seoul/South Korea).

1949 熊本市生まれ。中学・高校の美術教諭を経て、九州産業大学造形短期大学部特任教授を務めた。
自らが立つ大地によって、重力という垂直性、地平・水平線という世界が続いていく感覚。
その広がりの空間による純粋抽象を一貫して追究。熊本市在住。
1970 第10回東京ビエンナーレ、東京都美術館「人間と物質」にて田中信太郎のアシスタントとして参加、成田克彦をはじめ もの派 前衛作家らと出会う。
1970 ゼロックスアート開始、公開制作などを行う。
1975 サトウ画廊 (東京) にてシェイプド・カンヴァスの抽象絵画で初個展
1982 ニューヨーク、ボストンにて滞在制作
